How to Get Ready in 10 Minutes

Jul 28, 2009 05:35 PM

We have all been there - you have somewhere to be and you should have left the house. Trouble is, you are still in bed! It is possible to get up and out of the house in 10 minutes flat. Honest!

Go into the bathroom and warm up the shower. Make sure you have towels ready.

While the shower warms up, brush your teeth and gargle. Allow two minutes.

Jump into the shower and wet yourself all over. Lather up (hair and body) and then rinse. This should take no more than three minutes. Boys - this may be a day for the designer stubble look. Consider your contribution to reducing water wastage as a bonus.

Towel yourself dry. If you have long hair then wrap it in a towel for now.

Don't forget the deodorant.

Dress - choose the simplest clothes possible. If your clothes are ready and hanging in your closet where they should be, this will take all of two minutes.

Ladies -if you must wear make-up, then a sweep of mascara will have to do for now. You can always put your face on later.

Make your way downstairs and pull on your shoes. Grab your keys, money and coat. if your hair is still wrapped in a towel, take it off and slap on a hat!

Get out of the door.

Tips

  • The more organized and tidy you are in your habits, the easier it is to be ready in a hurry.
  • Keep your drawers and wardrobe organised. Throw out stuff you don't wear and keep the things you do wear clean and pressed.
  • Keep essentials (keys, money, travel cards, make up etc ) in a bag in a convenient place so you can grab it in a rush and know you have everything you need.
  • Have a place for everything and keep everything in its place. Don't waste time looking for items you need.
  • Have emergency supplies at work or in the car - travel toothbrushes, comb, tights etc. that way if you forget anything in your rush, you can smarten yourself up.
  • Oh yes - and have a good loud alarm clock set for at least half an hour before you need to leave. These are emergency measures only!

Warnings

  • This will only really work for people without children. Chuck a couple of kids into the mix and you have next to no chance, without getting up another half an hour to an hour!
